Gitte Lutzhoeft, Danish artist who lived 15 years in New Zealand before returning to Europe/ Berlin in 2012 where she currently lives and paints.

I hope you will like my little selection of paintings and perhaps choose one for yourself to brighten up or further decorate your home.
Originally from Denmark, I started painting at an early age.
My inspiration originated from my aunt, an artist herself, who encouraged me to express my emotions and feelings, whether sad or happy, through colours and shapes. Frustrations during my youth were often released whilst lying on my auntie's floor, creating fantasy in vivid colours, using hands and feet as brushes.....I loved it and it taught me how important art is towards self expression.
When living in New Zealand, I took art lessons from a Dutch artist who taught me the wonderful world of -oils on canvas- (my preferred materials), and when I returned to Europe, I studied art at a German art school, mainly working with pigment colours on paper.
Throughout my life painting has remained my hobby and escape. The themes of my painting has always been a reflection of my feelings and location and these vary over time depending on the different parts of the world I have lived.
I am unable to create paintings to which I am not connected or can identify myself and while this creates some limitations, that is the way I prefer to work and I believe it gives every painting a purpose and special "life".
The different series I am able to share with you at the moment, represents stages in my life in various countries e.g. Denmark, New Zealand and latest Berlin. I will be adding paintings over time so please revisit my website again for new creations.
All paintings are close to my heart and while the motive will remain as is, should you wish to purchase one, you can choose a colour scheme to closer match your home . This way each painting will remain unique and special for you, while it still keeps its original intent.
